Worthy State Officers, State Committeemen, Knights and Squires!
Hello, as the newly elected Louisiana State Chief Squire, I am excited about the upcoming fraternal year and would like to introduce myself to you. My name is Kobe Chauvin and I am from the Marion Circle #786 of Archbishop Shaw High School in Marrero, Louisiana. Marion Circle #786 is sponsored by the Archbishop Blenk Council #1905 in Gretna, Louisiana. I have held the office of Chief Squire in my circle for the last two years. I have also been a Louisiana State Officer for the past fraternal year, holding the office of State Bursar.
I have been involved in the Columbian Squires program for most of my life. I remember attending KC and Squires events with my father, AJ Chauvin as a young kid. This fall, I will be a junior at Archbishop Shaw High, and I love being active in community and church projects.
Since I was elected at the State Squires Convention on June 1st, I have thought and prayed about the goals for this fraternal year. I have two goals for the Squires this year: 1) I want to make our Circles stronger by inspiring increased activity of our current members. 2) I want to continue to cultivate a close relationship between the Squires and the Knights. I plan to attend as many Knights of Columbus events as possible, in an effort to promote a stronger relationship. I have many ideas on how to accomplish these goals. These goals will be discussed at our State Planning meetings throughout the fraternal year. At our State Orientation we will be planning state wide events that focus on the building of fraternity among the squires and the service of our community. I am also looking forward to including the Squires Roses into our programming this year.
We will be holding our Columbian Squires Leadership Seminar (CSLS) in Houma, LA on August 6, 2016. These seminars are meant to inspire and guide our squires and counselors to working together for the common goal of fraternalism. Brother Knights are welcome to attend CSLS to get the information needed for increasing membership, Circle Operations and the implementation of Circles into the Church Parish. Anyone wishing to attend CSLS, please visit our website lasquires.org for more information and to register.
In closing I ask you, Worthy Knights, to walk alongside me this year and to keep not only me, but all of the Squires and the Knights who work closely with us, in your prayers. Esto Dignus!
